As you may have heard, a month ago this Wednesday, the Indonesian Island of Lombok was struck by the first of a series of devastating earthquakes, and the aftershocks still keep on coming. More than 430,000 people are now homeless.
As many of you know, we work personally with our producers and we source our wonderful pottery from a village which has been hit hard by the affects of the recent quakes and aftershocks.
Usually villagers make the pottery on their doorsteps and then collectively fire it in a communal kiln, but since the earthquake the villagers are sleeping in horrible conditions, under make shift roofing as their simple homes cannot withstand the great forces at play and many have no income stream while they rebuild.
We have therefore, along with our friends from Raine and Humble in Australia and New Zealand, decided to help a little with food packs for the families affected, starting with the village we source our pottery from.
We have already donated towards 360 packs, and the first truck has landed from Bali to Lombok to hand it all out.
Labour and delivery is donated by our friends in Bali and we would like to send a special thanks to Made Rusna for organising and delivering the food.
