Colour inspiration is a strong foundation when developing a new range. Traditionally Raine & Humble has always worked with neutral tones as the base of our ranges. Loving the organic look of natural cotton and linen, these ivory and taupe tones have always been very prevalent base fabrics in our printed designs.
While in the past we have experimented with some brighter colours Kerry’s recent introduction to natural plant dying has influenced her current colour choices. The process has both fascinated and inspired her and she has loved working with this medium. Their Australian eucalyptus species have featured a lot in her experiments, using the leaves, bark and gum nuts to product natural colours from the deep reds to the bright yellows and every shade in between.
Kerry and her dog Milo have collected many nuts and leaves on their morning walks. One particular species when modified with soda ash and iron, gave me a strong mustard colour and a beautiful rich olive green.
Seen frequently this Summer in fashion, mustard is not limited to its traditional use in Winter and Autumn but can be used year round.
Our latest collection, Preston Rose introduces this beautifully rich colour through the use of cottons, velvet and screen print.
This versatile colour can be styled with pinks, white and pale greys for a soft airy look, or with dark greys, navy blues or olive greens for a warmer or more moody look.
All the above products can be found in our Preston Rose Collection
